Handheld LCR Meter
The Instek LCR-1000 series are handheld LCR meters with an automatic real-time test function. With high measurement accuracy and usability, the LCR-1000 is suitable for precision testing, including maintenance tests, component production, research and development, and even quality testing.
The LCR-1000 series has 50,000 count display for both main and auxiliary parameters and a basic accuracy of 0.2%. 2-wire and 5-wire measurement is also supported. Furthermore, the series provides a comparison and data retention function to meet various test and measurement requirements for different types of components.
This series is equipped with USB-HID and USB-VCOM interfaces. A simple and practical free PC software is provided and remote control commands (compatible with SCPI) are available for users to write their own personal software to meet the needs of data acquisition.
Two models available
The LCR-1000 Series features two models with similar functionality. The series provides selectable test voltages (0.3/0.7/1.0Vrms) and equivalent circuits (series/parallel) to automatically measure capacitance, inductance, resistance, reactance, impedance, quality factor, loss factor, phase and DC resistance.
The LCR-1100 provides additional test frequencies not found in the LCR-1010.

Equivalent circuit (series or parallel)
Actual capacitors, inductors, and resistors are not ideal components of pure reactance and pure resistance. They usually have both resistive and reactive components. An actual impedance element can be simulated by an ideal resistor and an ideal reactor (inductance or capacitance) in series or in parallel.
It can be converted mathematically with a formula, but the two forms are different, and the inconsistency depends on the quality factor Q (or loss D).
For components with low impedance value Z (high value capacitors and low value inductors) use the series equivalent circuit. For components with large impedance Z (low value capacitors and high value inductors) use parallel equivalent circuits.
The equivalent circuit is determined according to the actual use of the component. For example, for a capacitor, a series equivalent circuit is used for power filtering, and a parallel equivalent circuit is used for an LC oscillator circuit.
