KEY FEATURES

GW Instek now extends its Spectrum Analyzer product series up to 3GHz. As a new member, the GSP-830 inherits the advantages of high performance, affordable cost, ease of use, and light-weight portability, which are common in GW Instek products. Moreover, its extremely low noise floor greatly increases the measurement range, an advanced user interface brings a significant visual enhancement, and the rich measurement functions make measurements simple and easy. The GSP-830 offers the greatest performance/price value in the market.

Wide Measurement Range
With GW Instek's state-of-the-art design, the GSP-830's outstanding low noise floor level of -152dBm/Hz at 1GHz has extreme sensitivity for picking up weak signals. Along with the GAP-802 20dB-gain preamplifier, the GSP-830 reaches an equivalent noise floor level as low as -172dBm/Hz, further extending the measurement range.

Automatic Measurement
The GSP-830 can act as an automatic test instrument to eliminate the need for external computer control. Macros can be defined through the front panel keypad and stored into 10 Sequence sets. A sequence can include pause steps that can be used for observing the measurement results when necessary. Repeat or Single run mode can be selected based on application requirements.

Portable Power Operations
Equipped with two packs of Li-ion batteries, the GSP-830 can maintain normal operation for more than 3 hours. In DC operation mode, the GSP-830 can be powered by a 12-Volt power supply or a standard cigarette lighter in an automobile. The large internal memory of the GSP-830 means mass storage of measured traces, setup information, limit lines and user-defined macros is possible. With USB flash drive support for mass storage, weighing 6kg and a compact size, the GSP-830 is also a convenient tool for service engineers out in the field.

Advanced User Interface
The user-oriented interface design of the GSP-830 gives users the pleasure of handling complicated measurements with ease. A high-resolution 6.4" color TFT LCD provides crisp and clear images. Colored, user-defined traces allow small disparities to be seen at a glance. The Split-Window mode allows simultaneous monitoring of two different frequency bands on a single display. Under this split-window mode, the GSP-830 acts like two spectrum analyzers packed into single unit.

Feature-Rich Interface
The USB host port on the front panel supports flash drives for various functions, including loading/saving setup information, tracing data, and capturing screens. The rear panel USB slave port is used for PC remote control. The GSP-830's screen image can be sent directly to external monitors through the VGA port on the rear panel. These features make it easy to remotely monitor the results in special circumstances, such as EMI testing, group presentations, or discussions.

Free PC Software for the GSP-830
Through RS-232 or USB connection, EagleShot can transfer measurement data from the GSP-830 to a PC. Data can be printed as graphs or saved as a text file for further analysis. With the EagleShot software, the limit lines can be uploaded from the GSP-830 or edited directly on the PC. For marking and reading the captured signals on the PC screen, markers can be placed directly on the PC display as easily as doing it on the GSP-830 front panel. The latest version of EagleShot supports the GSP-830 in various application fields whilst maintaining compatibility with the GSP-827.

AUTOSET FUNCTION
Going through rigorous training sessions and trial-and-error process is usually a common experience to master how to use a product. That is not the case with the GSP-830. The Autoset function automatically captures the signal and configures the optimal display setting in just one step. For complex signals, settings such as amplitude and frequency span can still be manually adjusted to display the desired signal. With the GSP-830's Autoset function, using a spectrum analyzer is no longer a complicated experience.

POWER MEASUREMENT FUNCTION
GSP-830 provides various power measurement functions: ACPR, OCBW, and Channel Power, Phase Jitter, and N-dB bandwidth measurements. Two adjacent channels as well as channel bands are shown at the same time with different color codes enabling users to recognize the test result at a glance. Under power measurement mode, the screen display splits into two parts with upper part to show the waveform and lower part to show the parameters of test result.

MARKER FUNCTION
Under Marker mode, 5 pairs of flexible markers can be used to easily find and observe signal peaks, track them, or measure delta readings between defined pairs. A table list provides a real-time update of the frequency and power information of all markers for users to observe signal details quickly and easily.

CORRECTION TABLE FUNCTION
The GSP-830 provides up to five sets of amplitude correction functions to compensate antenna effects. Each correction set includes 30 amplitude adjustment points in different frequencies, allowing easy adjustment of antenna effects.

PASS/FAIL JUDGMENTS
The Pass/Fail Limit function is convenient for quick inspections of repetitive measurements. This function is especially helpful for the efficiency and productivity of production line testing. After high/low limits are set to create Pass/ Fail templates, the GSP-830 can quickly determine whether the waveform of an input signal is within the specified range (Pass) or not (Fail).

TRIGGER FUNCTION
The extensive triggering features add very flexible yet powerful triggering capabilities to the GSP-830. Trigger source, mode, delay and frequency can be fully configured to isolate the right trigger conditions.

AUTO SEQUENCE MODE
Automatic Sequence feature offers a special functionality that frees you from complex programming; you can configure ATE test programs with the GSP-830 without going through software programming processes. After editing the auto sequence sets through the GSP-830 front panel, you can easily run different
measurements in series (by a single key press) or carry out all the test sequences step by step.

SPLIT-WINDOW DISPLAY IN LIVE MODE
The split-window display allows one signal to be displayed in two different measurement modes or settings. Importantly both windows continue to be updated in the real-time regardless of the measuring modes. This feature is especially useful when measuring harmonics.

THREE-TRACE INDEPENDENT DETECTION
The GSP-830 is able to display three traces at once with various signal detection modes such as: peak, average, or sample. The other useful trace functions include trace math operations using the stored traces.

STATUS INFORMATION PRESENTED BY ICONS

Breaking away from traditional spectrum analyzer interfaces, the GSP-830 has adopted status icons to clearly show the current instrument status. The intuitive icons help you grasp the current conditions immediately. As all the status icons are clearly displayed, there is no need to worry about other functions or settings which might cause measurement errors.

MULTI-LANGUAGE OPERATION

The GSP-830 can be operated in English or Simplified Chinese, with English being the default language. The multi-language feature allows you to operate the GSP-830 comfortably in your preferred language.

VGA OUTPUT

The VGA output terminal can be used for showing GSP-830 display contents on an external device, such as a projector screen or VGA monitor. It offers a huge benefit in a variety of applications such as education and remote monitoring.

USB INTERFACE INCLUDED IN THE STANDARD CONFIGURATION

The GSP-830 has flexible PC connection. In addition to the standard RS-232 and optional GPIB for ATE control, the GSP-830 supports USB Host for data transfer. USB flash drives can be directly connected to the USB Host port to transfer measurement data to improve the work efficiency and make file transfer far more convenient.

OPERATION TIME OF 3 HOURS WITH THE BATTERY PACK
Three types of power supplies are supported in the GSP-830 : AC (100~240V), DC (+11~17V), and battery. Using the battery pack, one can operate the GSP-830 for up to 3 hours without an external power source. From a vehicle, the standard 12V supply can not only be used to operate the GSP-830, it can also charge the battery. These multiple power options are more than enough to satisfy mobile measurement needs.
