Overview Here's the one that started it all! We developed the Kestrel 1000 Pocket Wind Meter in 1995 when NK’s co-founder, Richard Kellerman, needed a reliable wind meter for flying his glider. Over 15 years later, it looks a little slicker, and it still gives you the reliable, accurate wind measurements that you need. Every Kestrel Meter features a large, 1” impeller mounted on a sapphire jewel bearing, which means it starts rotating with the slightest puff of air – 0.3 mph to be exact! And this unique impeller is user-replaceable, too, which means it can easily be replaced if it is damaged or worn. If your application demands regular calibration, simply pop in a new impeller and the Kestrel Wind Meter is restored to like-new factory calibration standards. The Kestrel 1000 can easily be switched between mph, km/h, ft/min, m/s, knots and Beaufort. Kestrel 1000 Measures Current Wind Speed Average Wind Speed Maximum Wind Gust Kestrel 1000 Features Protective cover with sure-grip overmolding Data hold function Large easy-to-read display Waterproof and floats Patented user-replaceable impeller Wide range of wind speeds and low startup speed Reliable,...

Overview For those of you who like to know just how cold and windy it really is, the Kestrel 2000 Pocket Wind Meter is your reality check. Whether contemplating which wet suit the cold water warrants, or checking to see how low the wind chill can go in the blind, the Kestrel 2000 is the easy-to-use tool you need. Winter sports enthusiasts around the world love Kestrel Meters. Thanks to the patented external temperature sensor, the Kestrel 2000 can take accurate water and snow temperature readings, and since it is isolated from the case, you can be sure that the temperature the Kestrel Meter is reading is accurate and not influenced by your hand warming the unit. Kestrel 2000 Measures Current Wind Speed Maximum Wind Gust Average Wind Speed Air, Water & Snow Temperature Wind Chill Kestrel 2000 Features Protective cover with sure-grip overmolding Waterproof and floats Large easy-to-read display with backlight Data hold function Quick-response, external thermistor Innovative design for stability and accuracy in abrupt condition changes Patented user-replaceable impeller Reliable, portable and easy to use All instruments and accessories are completely...

Overview The Kestrel 2500 takes the great features of the Kestrel 2000 and adds in a pressure sensor. A three-hour pressure trend indicator helps you predict fish and wildlife activity and know when the weather's going to turn nasty. With its easy-to-use digital pressure altimeter, you have the perfect instrument for any outdoor activity. In addition to predicting weather activity, barometric pressure also influences a bullet’s trajectory, which is why the Kestrel 2500 is used by shooters and hunters when accuracy is important. US Olympic Rifle Champion Shooter Lones Wigger wouldn’t trust any other instrument. “The Kestrel Meter is essential for target rifle shooting. It helps me win matches, and I rely on it for accurate weather information.” Available in the NV Configuration Military personnel and pilots flying in darkness are often concerned with preserving their night vision. Due to overwhelming demand from our military customers, the Kestrel NV line was added in 2005. The Kestrel 2500NV has a night-vision preserving backlight which helps users to sustain natural night vision. The NV's backlight incorporates an optical filter to reduce overall brightness and...

Overview NK was the first to provide accurate relative humidity measurements from a hand-held weather meter, and the Kestrel 3000 features two patents on its humidity measuring sensors. A testament to the 3000’s accuracy: it’s become practically required equipment for wildland firefighters—users whose lives literally depend on the accurate weather data their Kestrel 3000 provides. From the Kestrel 3000’s accurate relative humidity readings, it also calculates the dewpoint and heat stress index—important information to know when working or playing outdoors in hot and humid conditions. Kestrel Wind Meters are used by NFL trainers to determine how frequently the athletes need to hydrate, and when the conditions are unhealthy for strenuous exercise. Overview Many Kestrel users need to know everything that the weather is doing, but don’t need to log the data. We developed the Kestrel 3500 just for them. It provides comprehensive environmental data on nine different measurements with the simplicity of the Kestrel 1000. Simply turn it on and scroll left and right to see exactly what the environment is doing. When you’re done, slip on the hard cover and your Kestrel 3500 Pocket Wind Meter is just about indestructible. While the weather can dictate the comfort level of individuals working or playing outside, it plays an even bigger part in many professionals’ jobs. Irrigation professionals use the Kestrel 3500 to ensure they are irrigating efficiently and the water they are dispersing is actually hitting their intended target, and not evaporating or blowing away. And on construction sites Kestrel users are preventing plastic shrinkage cracks and curing concrete more effectively with their Kestrel 3500. Due to overwhelming demand from our military customers, the Kestrel NV line was...

Overview In 2000, we introduced the Kestrel 4000 Pocket Weather Tracker, and today it is still the most comprehensive pocket weather meter on the market. For just under 4 ounces, you get every environmental reading with the press of a single button. The 4000 is unparalleled in its ease of use and totally customizable navigation and data display. In addition to measuring the current conditions, it tracks and stores up to 2000 sets of data, and data can be uploaded to a PC with the optional Kestrel Interface. Durable? You bet. The 4000 has been subjected to impact, water submersion and extreme temperature tests, and keeps on working. Kestrel 4000’s have been put to the test in some of the harshest conditions on the planet. U.S. Special Forces, combat weather teams, wildland firefighters, smoke jumpers, Mt. Everest expeditions and IRL pit crews are just a few who rely on a Kestrel 4000 to provide them with the crucial environmental data they need. Watch the Weather Channel during a hurricane, and you’re sure to spot a Kestrel 4000 being wielded by an intrepid on-screen meteorologist. Due to popular demand in a range of applications, the Kestrel 4000 is available in Gray, Olive...

Overview For years our customers have been asking for wind direction along with wind speed. The Kestrel 4500 does just that with its built in digital compass. But it doesn’t stop there. It also calculates crosswind and headwind/tailwind with reference to a user-set target heading, and stores the information along with all the other environmental readings in its 1400 data point memory. Pair the 4500 Wind Meter with the Kestrel Vane Mount and you have a data-logging weather station that sets up in seconds and rotates in the slightest of breezes. Did we mention that the whole kit is the ultimate in portability? It packs down into a 2 x 6 inch pouch and weighs under 8 ounces.
